Abstract

Emotions are one of the most important, but also most difficult to shape, spheres of humanity. A competent teacher explains to children and young people that emotions are a kind of internal friend who tells us the truth about our life situation even if we want to get away from the truth about ourselves in our minds, even when this truth bothers us and places tough requirements for us. All emotions are positive as they give us knowledge about ourselves. Therefore, it seems that a popular distinction between positive and negative emotions is wrong. We can divide human experiences into joyful and painful, keeping in mind, however, that the latter also serve a positive function of informing us about what is harmful to us and what takes us away from joy. An immature pupil surrenders to emotions or tries to run away from them in various forms of addiction. A mature pupil is aware what they are going through in a given moment, but are not guided by emotions in their actions. They make use of their emotions to make logical conclusions and decide what to do here and now. Jesus is an example of an emotionally mature person, who knew what he was feeling in every situation, but was guided by love, not emotions or feelings, in his actions.
