Abstract

In the face of the growing de-Christianization of contemporary Europe, Pope Benedict XVI established the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization. The idea of new evangelization is about re-evangelizing those who are baptized but act as if God did not exist. A new evangelizer is someone who helps you discover the fascinating beauty of Christ’s wisdom and love. He or she is not a social activist, but a witness of God who confirms with their attitude that God understands, loves and teaches us to love. Proclaiming the Good News about Christ is the greatest gift that a person can give to another human being. Being an evangelizer is a calling, not a profession. Theological studies and specialist knowledge are not enough; instead, one’s personal holiness and sacrificial love are needed, because only love is credible for modern people.
